Root [AT&T] Can't edit system files

Mike1215

Newbie
I have a rooted AT&T S4 (I337). And I watched a video of a guy who downloaded an app and simply changed a file in the system folder. When I attempt this, all (I've tried 4 of them) file editors either freeze or say "Failed" when renaming.

Here's ASTRO:

Anyone know why this is happening?

Download ROM toolbox from jrummy and then open the app.
From the first screen ,scroll down to where it says scripts.
In the menu should be a script that says "mount system as r/w"
Tap that and grant it root permission.
That should allow you to edit system files.

Thanks for the quick response. I remounted the system as rw... but it didn't work for some reason.

Tis all good now though.
