Root [AT&T] Do I need a Custom Rom? or Can I just Root

jamiedolan

Newbie
HI;

I have a couple specific issues that I need to address on the Note II that I need root access for. For example; I only have the 16GB model, but have some large games (1 car game is around 1.5GB) that I want to move to the SD card. It won't allow me to move the programs off of the internal storage.

Can I just follow the steps to enable root access or is there some reason to load a custom rom as well? For example; do I lose root access when there is a update if I don't have a custom rom installed?

Thanks,

Jamie

You do NOT need a custom rom to acquire and keep root. Just use the odin method to root and your done.

You will NOT be able to update successfully via OTA. That's why most of us flash roms because they are always better than OTA updates and often more "up to date". Not to mention all the mods available.
