They say not to but I bet most people like me do. I stream and download a lot to Haven't got a message. I'm guessing as long as you don't kill a major amount of data you will be ok
Carmendiva was talking about her gophone plan I think..... Straight talk is unlimited data & everything else. The only people who are in danger of getting throttled are the .05% who do huge numbers. You are not one of those. There is not one documented case of straight talk shutting anyone down for data since they began offering this plan. I will repeat... If you can get at&t coverage, you can get straight talk unlimited. There is no catch. I've been using it for months.

I hear Straighttalk has good plans and the coverage is good but he Customer service leaves a lot to be desired

That is good to know. I ordered a GSM nexus yesterday. So for straight talk. I just have to choose att compatible phone and micro sim card correct on their website correct? Or is it better to call them instead?

That is awesome. How long does it take to get the sim? Gonna try to get to this today since I ordered the nexus yesterday. I currently have a nexus with Verizon so will need to port.

Even though I ordered on Tuesday looks like fed ex tracking says it won't hit my door until Monday. Bummer. Was hoping to get it by Friday. My GSM nexus arrived yesterday though.
Let us know how it works out for you...I'm on T-Mobile $30 plan..it works great but I do hate having to watch my minutes.

Another option that is looking interesting is Solavei. They are supposed to start service in September, it will be $49 for unlimited talk and data, throttled after 4GB, using T-Mobile's network. The only thing that bothers me is that they will be an MLM, giving $20/month for every "Trio" (three customers) you have referred. But the management team and finances of the company, that I can find, appear to be solid.

That's enough for me to stay far away from them. I watched an episode of Penn & Teller Bullshit*t about MLM companies, so I wouldn't be surprised if these guys MADE you refer people to keep from paying an arm and a leg. I will wait for the fine print but sounds kinda fishy to me. I'd rather not be an unpaid salesman for some unknown company just to use my phone.
From what I can find, it appears they want to give people a choice. They have it priced at $49 for phone service to be competitive, allowing those that just want phone service to pay for it and be competitive with other companies plans. For those that want to lower their monthly payment or even make some money, they have the MLM part that will pay for every "trio" that have active service. The management team looks solid and, from what I can tell, the MLM part of the business is more to differentiate themselves from other prepaid companies as well as serve as their advertising.
I have reservations, like you, as there are a lot of shady MLM companies that have given the industry a bad reputation. I'd still like to see more information but, from what I've seen so far, they seem to have a solid and experienced management team (most from other mobile carriers) in place and solid financing. It will be interesting to see what happens when they begin service.

The issue I found is that the ATT billing system identifies the Nexus 4 IMEI as a 4g smartphone. 4g phones are blocked on the gophone network. And ATT advertises HSDPA as 4g to complicate things. Some research shows ATT HSDPA indeed runs on their 3g network. So there must be a way to make it happen for us; right? There are several work arounds. Here's the approach I took.
I purchased a $65 gophone plan (phone/text/1gb data) with SIM at ATT store and obtained new number. Place SIM in Nexus 4 and phone/text should work fine. No data though. At this poiint you will need a knowledgeable and willing Rep to go into the billing system and change the identity of your phone to a 3g smartphone ATT currently sells. Boom, It works. They can migrate your old number at any time.
Another work around that should work is to take a SIM from an ATT 3g smartphone and put it in the Nexus 4. The ATT billing system will then register your phone as a 3g smartphone. Once an association is made identifying your IMEI as 3g it will remain as such. Remove this SIM and put in your gophone $65 SIM and it should be all good.
I did not need to change any network settings. Next to the signal strength you will see an H when HSDPA is available.
A note on gophone SIMS. ATT has the ability to lock a SIM to an IMEI. So the Rep will need to make sure in meathod 2 that the SIM is unlocked.
