Root [AT&T] HELP with root problems

yes you need it. gapps is short for google apps meaning gmail play store etc. most of the roms use gapps some are specific to the rom
 
these are zip files they are used with recovery(tars for odin) alas the philz recovery that you have installed. throw those two files on your sdcard boot into recovery and follow the flashing instructions that are given. fyi there is a general way of flashing but you always wanna follow the ops directions because sometimes they deviate from the general way
 
all is well. i hadnt slept in about 30+ hours cus it was pissing me off so bad. you really helped me out here man and i can not thank you enough! it is beyond appreciated. so far im really diggin dirty unicorn! now i just gotta get everything back on my phone working. not a fan of the messaging set up on it but thats no biggie what so ever.

glad to help once you get everything set up your gonna wanna make a backup(nandoid) via philz recovery so that way any problems occur you can flash it back to normalcy. grab a root explorer and titanium backup(backup apps) have fun customizing your new toy
