I officially gave up on this update happening. And I just sold my one x. It was a great phone. I just didn't want to waste and just collect dust on my desk.
Viper XL ROM is pretty good. Everything jellybean has plus more.

Did you read the whole article? The title is very misleading...
The article just says the new HTC One is set to be released on March 15th.
It does not state any date for the JB update for the One X.![]()
Attention all morons like myself that can't figure out how to root. Looks like we got a date, March 15th.
HTC One X Jelly Bean Update Delayed by AT&T; Release Date March 15 : Offbeat : ENSTARZ
Hey bigCiX, can you post the link and basic instructions when you have a few minutes? I want to do this this weekend.
Thanks, hopefully I have time. If I like viperXL I'll stick with it, otherwise I may try cm or aokp
Viper is pretty smooth. The only thing that changed recently is that when u push on the camera icon a lot of the gallery pictures won't show up for some reason. Also.....remember jellybean got rid of mass storage.

So technically this doesn't go here but it says it failed when i tried to get it to push superSU to the phone... I am hesitant to go to the next step before i confirm that it's there... do you remember what yours said when you tried to do that?
the command prompt script says "permission denied"
I looked at this, and it is like reading German. I wish I could do it, but man does that look confusing.
I was definitely like you the first time I rooted. I am a visual learner and the XDA forums made no sense to me. It was not until I watched the how-to videos on OneXRoot.com - Your Source for HTC One X Root, ROMs, tips, and more! did anything make sense. Now I have rooted my phone and am running custom ROM. I got tired of waiting on AT&T. And let me tell you, stock android on the HOX makes this phone crazy fast.
I rooted with Viper XL but kept Sense. It gave me the option to remove it completly.
I'm at that stage. What would you do without sense on there?
Hey Big, did you flash the kernel after you installed it? I haven't yet and it hasn't seemed to mind...
I didn't flash it. Have u played around with Google now yet? Compared it with my wife's iPhone (Siri) and Google now is faster and smarter.
I'm still working on getting all my stuff back on it, but i used it to check the weather and it was fast and awesomeI still feel lame for basically getting lost during a step by step process (see the 5 posts i made last night all over the place) but this is so much nicer than 4.0
How have you found battery life to be? I'm almost done setting up all the essential stuff, then i'll disable everything i don't want/need and reboot
Let's move this to the root forum, thanks.![]()
Guitar, here's where I got to. I got the tool kit opened. I think I downloaded the HTC drivers and left the
Website open. I restarted the computer, plugged in the phone. Then I hit bootloader command and nothing happens. I don't think the phone is being recognized.
Yeah, I had that enabled. If the phone is recognized when you plug it in, do you get some kind of message about it? It doesn't seem like there is any change on my phone screen.
