AT&T Nexus S launch today??

From what I understand it did launch, but Best Buy is the only place that is selling it. You can get it (finally) on the best buy mobile website. I went to my local store this afternoon and picked one up so it really is being sold.

Interested in getting one as well. Can you confirm if the phone is unlocked or not if buying it with a 2 year contract?

Thanks.

Just ordered mine online and upgraded my contract. Captivate user at the moment and giving it to my sister.

I was just looking at this phone and am interested in getting one. However I have a couple of questions. Can you purchase the phone off contract? Also does it have led notifications like the Atrix has? Also does this rung on 3g or 4g like the Atrix and the inspire or is it the new LTE? Thanks any help would be appriciated.

It can be purchased off contract. No led notifications. Runs on 3g.

Quick note to add to that, in at least California (possibly country-wide), carriers are required by law to give the clear option to buy any of their devices off contract. Somehow Apple seems to ignore this law with its iPhone though.

Yup it's the I9020A.
Hmm, interesting. So it's no different than the Rogers canadian I9020A that's been imported for a long time now. I've owned three of the I9020A's, and been very disappointed with each. My primary reason was always very slow 3g data and turbo battery drain.

I wonder if, since AT&T is officially subsidizing this model and since they disabled the free tethering hotspot, did they "tweak" the phone to play nice with their network? I really want to get another i9020a (especially since they are found sub $400 on eBay now) but I cannot deal with the headaches that came with the Canadian i9020a.

I just wonder what's different with the Best Buy subsidized version?

EDIT: Nevermind, I figured it out. The Canadian I9020A has a KB1 radio. You can flash the model to the KB3 radio for better data/connectivity. Also, it seems that if you flash to the Best Buy subsidized version of the AT&T model, the UCKE1 (KE1) radio you get even better USA 3G performance with the Nexus S. I'll try both the KB3 and KE1 radios once my new Nexus S arrives (eBay, not Best Buy).
