Root [AT&T] Note 2 stuck in boot loop

Ok I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 2 (SGH-i317) stuck in boot loop. when turned on it will gas to the ATT logo and that's it. I didn't know the phone was rooted and tried to factory reset in the settings. I am new to the root world, but my main question is do I have a really expensive paper weight? Is there any way possible to save to phone? I read a little about a program called Odin 3 and downloaded the latest version. I'm afraid to try anything else that may make it worse then it already is. I can also go into download mode. Any suggestions I would love to hear, also any information about the phone I will be glad to give.

You should be able to Flash stock firmware using this.

Read up on it before trying and ask in these forums if you are not sure.
