Root {AT&T} Note overclock and root help

So i would like to root my note and stay with gb.. Can someone explain to me or point me in the right direction on how to root the note... Also since I want to stay with gb because ics seems to still be working on its problems.. Can someone recommend a rom that still allows all the note pen apps to work while being fast and stable.. Also need recomdations for an overclock kernel.. Thanks

On a side note if I root this phone while on straight talk networks will I mess up my data connection or somehow mess with the apn or established connection with straight talk? thanks
