Help AT&T 's new messaging app and the notification light

Special K

Newbie
A few weeks ago, AT&T forced a new text and voicemail app onto my phone called "AT&T Messages" or something similar. Based on the information I have been reading on the Web, I suspect this app was forced on all of AT&T's android users.

The app isn't so bad except for one glaring omission: the notification light on the GS3 no longer blinks when I have a new text message. Is there any way to re-enable this feature? I like being able to know if I have a text waiting without turning on my phone.

It wasn't forced on me, but I think I disabled it ages ago, in favor of the stock messaging app on my AT&T S3.
