There are a few ways for that to happen, such as a data sector getting messed up, and that will cause the sdcard partition to not mount.

If I read you right, you tried the factory reset from inside recovery yes?

Factory reset from hboot ought to fix corrupted sdcard sectors.

Let me know if you've tried that, if not, please do and report results.

OK so we need to find you a tool called an RUU (HTC rom update utility) but it has to be at or ahead of your firmware versions or we're going to convert your phone into a paperweight.

I've found what might be the latest publicly available for your phone - and it might work - but I need to be sure.

Get the sdk-tools.zip from the Mini-SDK post -

http://androidforums.com/threads/adb-guide-updated-2014-11-11.443072/#post-5389081

If you've ever run HTC Sync or could see your phone storage on your pc, you ought not need anything else.

Unzip sdk-tools.zip, it'll create an sdk-tools folder. Shift + right click on the sdk-tools folder, Menu, open command window here (or similar words) - do that.

Get phone to FASTBOOT at the top, plug in to PC, it should change to FASTBOOT USB.

Command window say -

fastboot getvar all

Alt + space on command window produces menu - E for edit, S for select all, y for copy - and paste results here.

I'll let you know what I can find.

OK, if this won't work it should stop you with a version error.

Here's a doc file with instructions (the sample screens list a different HTC but the operation is the same) -

http://www.htc1guru.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/files/RUU_Install_ReadMe.doc

The RUU needs to at or above your hboot and radio firmware versions.

The best I could find is older than your last working software, but seems to have a newer radio (good) but I couldn't confirm the hboot version.

The document instructions say have a 30% charge - I'd advise much higher. 50 or even 80% isn't a bad idea, or higher if the tool asks for it.

Select FASTBOOT, plug in to PC, it should say FASTBOOT USB at the top.

Download and try this RUU by double clicking to launch -

http://www.htc1guru.com/2014/03/att-ruu/

Hope that helps.

To be exact after 5% completion it says "htc_fastboot.exe has stopped working Windows will try to find solution"
After a min or so it says " htc_fastboot.exe has stopped working" close program

I called Htc and they asked me to send the device to them and they will look into it and if they can fix it they will give us a quote

Do you know about this ? do u think htc can recover the device ?

I'm certain that HTC can recover the device.

Yours is the first Windows I've heard of where fastboot wouldn't run but given the nature of Windows variations it was just a matter of time before I'd seen this. (And I've been watching people use RUUs for 5 years lol.)

Anyway, I'm sure you'll be glad to know that they're not going find any tampering and a root cover up.

Let me know if they fix it for free, otherwise, I'd expect a minimal charge.

I more than very much doubt a hardware failure.

While not common, I've seen your same symptoms after an update a few times and had the RUU fix it each time before.

So, I really expect it's software and I really expect less than an hour for them to fix and process it.

Hey

I sent my phone to HTC,, and in the mean time i took my buddys htc one m7 which he was not using due to not able to hear incoming and outgoing calls ,, after playing with it i realized that it has to do with google play services

I cannot log into any google app on this phone and cannot install anything as play store is locked
But i was able to install apps apk though.

I can update google play services and after that i can loginto google and install apps but i get this issue where incoming/outgoing calls cannot be heard

Without updating google play services i dont have calls issue but cannot log into the google dats all

Sorry for the long story but my question is :

Can i use the same steps you gave me for my previous Htc to bring this one back to stock ROM
This phone seems to have twrp as well and im new to this, if you can guide me how to get back to stock ROM so that i can get OTA updates from Att and i can go to lollipop

I know we may have other ROMs for lollipop but im unaware of which is good and how to install

Thanks for your help and expertise

First, get into FASTBOOT USB mode, plugged in to the pc, command window at sdk-tools and say -

fastboot oem relock

The screen should change from unlocked to relocked. If not, reboot fastboot, see if the unlocked goes away.

Then run the RUU I gave you - it's later and ought to work without issue.

Make sure it's charged before proceeding.

Well - our fastboot, straight from Google, seems to work just fine.

I read of a trick others did a few years back -

Open Windows Explorer, click in the address bar, erase what's there and enter -

%temp%

And hit return, that will take you to your temp area.

Do you see any IMG or ZIP files there, as would come from the RUU?

If so, open a second Windows Explorer, copy and paste from temp to sdk-tools, let me know what files you harvested.

There are quite a few files/folders there but not images or zip files
so i sorted by today and There is one folder which seems relavent and it has thre files
Name of the folder was {50F2F878-636A-496F-A7CB-544C067E0C4B}
Files in that i see thre filed adpwinapi dll were adb, htc_fastboot

Do you want me to copy these files into sdk tools folder ?
If i copy them over, the only file i would be adding to that folder will be htc_fastboot
other two will be overwriting them or replacing older ones

Did i give u what u were luking for ?
