aTAKEphONE does not want to show duplicate matches, so if a contact from has matches for your search string both in his name and company - it will show up as a contact found (for example - IBrahim from IBm will show as Ibrahim when you search for IB).

Could that be the case ?

You mean in the main list ? it does show on call details.

The problem I am having with company searches does not have anything to do with "Duplicate Match". I wish I could give you a better idea on a sequence of events that cause it, but I cannot... It just seems to start happening often, but randomly.

For example, I have a number of contacts at the company "Cummins". When things are working correctly if I type in 286 I will see these (and only these 16), but when things stop working I will see nothing.

When this problem occurs the only way I have found to reliably get things working again is to power down my Droid 2 and power it back up. Also, many times (but not all) when this problem starts happening I will get a google framwork error and it will want to force a shutdown on the app.

The really weird thing is sometimes I will have 286 displayed (showing the 16 Cummins contacts) and my Driod 2 will blank its screen. I will push the power button and do the swipe to go back in and the 286 is still the current search, but no Cummins contacts are displayed (they were just there!).

The app just seems to "give up" for no reason. Is the company search some separate thread or something that just died?

All in all it is very odd.

Let me know what I can do to help figure out what is happening.

How often does this happen ?

Can you check if this repeats itself (the app "giving up" or darkening) with company search turned off ?

I am about to revise the company search for the next version, so any input will be valued.

It happens probably 70% of the time I do a search. With company search turned off everything seems fine. With comapny search turned on this problem happens as described. I will say the application is more sluggish when company search is turned on even when it DOSE NOT display things correctly, so it must be trying something. With Comapny search turned off it is much snappier.

FYI: Sometimes the company search will work correctly (Displaying the Cummins people with 286 entered). Then I will delete the 286 with the backspace, and then retype it (286 again) and no Cummins people will be displayed. It is frustrating and confusing.

Do you have a Droid 2 or an Android 2.2 phone to test with?

Hi,

Sorry for the delay in answering - holiday here.

So it seems the company search is to blame. I am re-designing it.
Dont have a 2.2 device - could not get the OTA update on my Nexus One.
Working on the simulator.
 
Just downloaded latest v1.27.

First thing I noticed is that if my contact name is formatted as eg: "F-I-L", I still cannot get aTakephone to search for it. Your keypad still cannot achieve this search, as I complained a month ago. Come on, you can do better than that.

aTakephone is letting me down yet again. Can you please fix this bug first. I have stopped using aTakephone a week after I bought it because of the issues I posted.

Just posted a newer version - 1.28 - a quickfix for a bug found at numbers lookup on 1.6 devices, plus - attention wcyandroid - fix for finding "F-I-L".

Are you going to be able to speed up the company search function? I tried another app that allowed company search (can't remember which one it was) and the results were almost instant. On Takephone, it is way too slow.
