Help ATK: to be or not to be.

So what's the deal. Lets get some debate going. On android 2.2 is an ATK needed? I've tried going with or without one and haven't noticed a bit of difference.
 
i use a task killer and i really see no harm done whether you use it or not. i just use it to kill apps that don't want to close and kill my battery. i know for sure it really speed up my samsung moment when it started to lag.
 
I say no. I used one in the beginning and it drained my battery just having it on and konstantly killing apps that were not closing right away :P I even tried a few other popular ones. Same results. Battery draining, programs messing up, laggy. I did some research and found ample reports that it is not necessary at all. I uninstalled it and things have never been better. You just have to know how to backout or properly exit some apps or they will stay on in backgound.
