Atrix 4G: AT&T Software Update News

I just found this on Motorola's support forums:

https://supportforums.motorola.com/thread/47575?tstart=0

"
Motorola and AT&T are happy to announce a pre-release of the first software update* for ATRIX 4G with MOTOBLUR, before it is officially released to all customers. We are recruiting 1,000 ATRIX owners to test and provide feedback on the update.

This registration period will be open until we receive our limit of qualified applicants. Note that you must be a member of the Motorola Owners' Forums to register. If you're interested in testing and want to take part, just join Motorola's community now and then fill out the short registration form.

Please note that registering will not guarantee you'll be among those testing the software update as testers will be chosen on a first-come, first-served basis, and on valid registration responses. Registration closes at 11am Central time 3/25/11. Selected users will receive additional information to prepare for the update via email when the trial begins.

A list of enhancements will be provided when the registration closes.

Thanks!
Motorola and AT&T Community Management

Thanks for posting this. I signed up for testing opportunities after I got my Atrix, but had to exchange it (fingerprint scanner quit and voice quality issues - scanner on new one is fine, sorry to say voice problems still there) so I registered again with new IMEI.

Yeah, I spent all day Wednesday going back and forth to AT&T locations and on the phone for hours with a combination of AT&T support and Motorola support trying to get a weird wifi bug worked out that won't let me access the Market properly on wifi. The H+ connection kicks in while I am on wifi in the Market app with completely kills off my connection for good minute. After about 8 hours of trying to get it solved (not to mention the weeks worth of questions prior to this on Moto support forums with no help) with nobody being able to help me or even hinting that "Don't worry, there is an update coming!" I went back to AT&T and they were happy to exchange the phone for something else. I walked around the room and played with all the high end smartphones. None of the other android phones AT&T offers really compared to the Atrix in my opinion. I even toyed around with Windows Phone 7. I really... really didn't like it. So I'm sad to say, I am an iPhone user again.

The funny part:
While setting up my email on my iPhone 4 inside the AT&T store I got an email from Mark on the Moto support forums telling me he could enter me in a special program which I would work with Moto engineers to try and fix my problem. I would have to sign a non-disclosure agreement and get separate updates for the phone than the general public would. He also hinted to me that there was a general update for the Atrix dropping in the next week.

Too little, too late.

Edit: please don't think this is a "hate Atrix" post. I really loved my Atrix. I had no intention on returning it if I had hope of the problem getting fixed. Motorola just didn't pull through for me in time for my epic patience to run out. I miss things about Android already. :(

^^^ Sorry to hear that. I think the Atrix is a good phone that can be great with a little TLC from Motorola.

I'm plagued with the Data Network bug where I loose connectivity sometimes after leaving a WiFi connection. I'm really glad to know that Motorola is listening and fixing. Coming from the Samsung Captivate, I'm exceptionally gun shy about manufacturer fixes or the lack thereof.

Improved performance for the 3.5mm head jack?

The only problem I have had so far is slacker radio seems to only play in 2 speakers in my car.

Or it's really low quality.
