Atrix 4G can't synch with Fairpoint servers

I can't synch my new Atrix 4G to Windows Mail through my ISP (Fairpoint Communications). The phone won't do an auto synch and manual inputs haven't taken. I verified my server id's and my passwords through the ISP. I have the same info entered in the phone, that shows on my computer email acct. settings. AT7T and Fairpoint tech supports haven't helped.

Sometimes, you have to use DIFFERENT server settings on a mobile device than on your PC.

You didn't specify, but can you answer the following?
-What application are you trying to set your email up in? The Stock Accounts, or a 3rd party app like K9?
-What Protocol are you using (POP? IMAP? ???)
-What ports are you configuring?

It's also possible that your ISP is blocking access to your email from any IP not on their network. Several do that. For years, AT&T (Bellsouth) would not let you send email from your Bellsouth email account unless you were connected to their DSL network. (In fact, they may still do that??). Have you verified this with Fairpoint?

Thanks for your response. I use Windows mail on my desktop. I am setting my phone up with the stock email acct. The phone does require me to set up a gmail acct. as well, but I am not sure why. I am set up for a pop3 protocl. The in port is 110, the out port is 25. The Fairpoint server id is mail.myfairpoint.net. I checked both my passwords and server id's with the ISP.

OK, you have to have a GMAIL account because Google owns Android, and everything you do on the phone links back through Google in some way (Like the account in the market to buy apps).

Have you verified that fairpoint allows connections to their mail server from OFF their network (Over the cellular network). I just tried a telnet to that server address on port 110 and port 25, and was denied a connection. I have a feeling THEY are blocking the traffic.

Thanks again........Apparently the phone requires gmail for some internal apps. If I delete it will dump all personal data and I'll have to start over (may not be a bad idea). I called the isp tech support. She verified that my server settings were correct:

incoming: pop mail server
server: mail.myfairpoint.net
user name: my email address
Password: verified
Port:110
Secure Conn.: not checked
User secure password: auto
Authentication: Authenticated POP selected
Verify certificate: checked

outgoing:smtp server
all other settings the same except:
Port: 25
Authentication: none

I am still unable to send/receive from the phone, however I have recieved some replies to emails that were sent from my PC. I am not sure what I can do if they are blocking.

When you say you got replies to emails you sent from your PC, did you get them on the phone? If so, then the POP side is working.

If you still can't send, it's possible they require you to login on the SMTP settings. I notice that you show the SMTP as using no authentication. Try setting it up to authenticate like the POP side does.
