PenTile LCD is not the same as PenTile AMOLED. Don't jump to negative conclusions.
Well, until Samsung gets off of the Super AMOLED and Super AMOLED+ technology and whomever licenses IPS tech to LG and Apple allow it to spread, of course these manufacturers are going ot have to go with 'inferior' screen tech.
It is the same principle. RRB and GGB subpixels. Of course, I'm going to reserve judgment based on whether or not it negatively impacts my view of the screen (it did on the Nexus One), but that doesn't take away from the fact that at its heart it is an inferior technology rooted in cost savings. It just seems silly that they're willing to throw 1 GB of RAM in this thing but skimp on an otherwise technically impressive screen.
I'm new to Android, and I understand that opinions are merely opinions, but how can CNET describe the screen as "almost as good as the iphone" while others "reviewers" seem to be tearing it down? Is it possible that there are some AT&T haters that refuse to accept that a great Android device is about to hit AT&T?
The reviews of the screen, few as they are, are giving me whiplash.
Since we're at it, let's add more fuel to the display fire. Engadget has finally posted its review of the Atrix (9/10!) and "Super high resolution display" is listed under the Pros of the phone.
Nice to see Samsung got rid of the Pentile Matrix for their new screens..
Whats even more interesting is the early benchmarks of the Orion chip in the Galaxy S 2...
But the Tegra 2, being dual core and all, should be able to handle the higher pixel density. I mean if it's a snapdragon, it would be a con but with a tegra 2, I don't think so.the higher pixel density will cause the Tegra 2 to work more, lowering it's performance.
