Atrix 4g supports 4g LTE?

I was searching on google earlier today if the Atrix was going to be able to support ATT's new 4g LTE, and in many cases i founf discussions saying that it will and that when they got there Atrix the sales man said that it will be able to support 4g LTE. Many people said he or she was lying and I thought the same.

I then became curious and has a live chat with an ATT sales person and they said that yes, the Atrix will be compatible with ATT new 4g LTE once it reaches your city. I want o know what you guys think on this? Good or Bad?

Bad, as in he lied to you.

The Atrix dosent have 4G LTE radios, meaning there won't be any 4G on this phone. You may be able to get faster HP+ speeds, but you wont see the 30 mbps you see on VZW and Sprint phones.

I always wondred this, but why would they specifically called it the atrix 4g?

Ya ya, I know some crappy marketing team but seriously

AT&T has branded is HSPA+ (faster 3G) and LTE (real 4G) as it's own 4G network. So if you specifically asked if the Atrix would work on an LTE network, then yes they lied to you by saying 'yes'. It will support HSPA+ speeds which will continue to get faster but by the time LTE launches, that will be the future.

One thing wrong with your post... Even LTE is not "REAL 4G."

The 4G standard was apparently unreachable by ANY technology we have now. (Without the carriers actually spending any R&D money! God forbid that happen!!) So, they dumbed it down so that HSPDA+, WiMax and LTE would become "4G." All 3 of those are really 3.5G technologies.

The areas that none of them can obtain from the original 4G standards are:
-100Mbs data speeds to clients in motion (Moving form tower to tower)
-1Gbs data speeds to stationary clients.
-Full IP6 implementation.

Back to the OP--- As for the Atrix, NO, it DOES NOT have the LTE radio's in it. AT&T (As far as I know) has not even started turning up LTE towers anywhere, and are not currently selling phones with LTE radios. If any of the current phones have them, they are not being listed on the talking points, and might be listed in the detailed manufacturer specks.

Were you lied to? Yes and no.
The Atrix is a HSPDA++, GSM based 4G phone. Not an LTE based 4G phone. It WILL work on the LTE 4G networks, just not on the LTE itself.... just like an EDGE (2G) phone works on the 3G networks. The system is backwards compatible. But, the phone will only run at the fastest it supports.

I always wondred this, but why would they specifically called it the atrix 4g?

Because it IS a 4G phone (Or what now passes for 4G).

The Atrix is a GSM, HSPDA++ based 4G. This is what AT&T currently has for 4G, and what T-Mobile passes for 4G.
Verizon uses LTE 4G.
Sprint uses WiMax 4G.
See my previous post about why NONE of those 3 are real 4G.

Just like you had GSM based 3G (AT&T/T-Mobile), and CDMA based 3G (Verizon/Sprint).

Thats pretty awesome. I told myself I wouldn't change my phone again until a reliable LTE phone was released and nothing would be better than that being a new Atrix.

Here's an article stating that the Atrix 2/ Atrix HD??? (what ever the replacement for our model will be called - it's the MB865) will be the FIRST phone AT&T will sell with an LTE radio in it...

I've seen another copy of this photo, on Engadget or something, and it said "Sony Ericsson" Right next to Motorola along the top. Not sure why.

Plus, you know, it's on China Mobile.
