Atrix at Costco

I plan on picking the Atrix up at Costco this week. Looks like they are selling it for $120. Does anyone know the answers to the following questions:

Do they also sell the docks?

Can they switch my iPhone 4 to my wife's number, and then switch the Atrix to my number, we are on a family plan.

Thanks.

They don't sell docks.
As for switching, I had a bold previously and upgraded a different line. The rep asked if I want him to put the sim in for me but I said I'll do it myself. I swapped sims in car and went to ATT store just to have them remove the data added on the upgraded line and switch my blackberry plan to smartphone unlimited.

The salesman at the Costco I went to said they'll be getting the docks in about a week. About switching numbers I would just do what dream5hift said above.

My (Texas) Costco has this deal for $120 until March 9th, then it reverts to $149. Local Fry's (where I bough mine) has them for $149 as well.

The Costco deal also includes a free (cheesy) generic case and a generic car charger.

At my local Costco its that price for the qualified upgrade and new customers. new 2nd line is 199 I believe; yes more...

Will AT&T know that you are using a Atrix if you install a previous non-smartphone sim card with the unlimited data plan? Trying to figure out ways around smartphones data plans.
Thanks

I'm going to say yes to this. I know in the past we used to be able to call them and tell them we are switching back to an older phone because the smart phone broke (Betting the cheaper data plan) but that hasnt worked for sometime now... at least when I tried it last.

Your best bet is to pickup the 200mg plan and utilize hotspots and wifi to thier fullest. I have had a 200mg plan for a little over a year and have never gone over. Even on a trips where I needed to look stuff up. I just switched phones so I upped my plan while I play with it but I will prbbably be going back to the 200mg plan soon.

Oh and I just bought my atrix at costco for the "online only" price 119.99. I did have to pay tax on the 149.99 but thats still better than At&t taxes. Came from an Iphone 3gs and they moved over all my contacts and number no problem... They had a handheld transfer machine. No accessories and they were not sure if and when they would be getting them in stock.

I currently have an unlimited BB data plan (out of contract, month-to-month.) From what I heard, I thought (if I got the phone only) I could bring in the Atrix to an ATT store and have them swap out the SIM cards and convert my unlimited BB data plan to an unlimited smartphone plan, stay out of contract and all else remain the same. This isn't true?

The representative at the AT&T store told me that anybody on the unlimited smart phone plan now is grandfathered in and won't lose it till they change their data plan itself. Re-signing a new 2 year contract won't effect your existing data plan. From what they told me.

I don't want to bum you out but, I bought mine at Costco for $129.19 shipped to my house. It also came with a bag of cheap accessories. I bought another one at the local Costco for the same price for my father. They might have charged you the wrong price, check it out.

Sorry i fat fingered the price... 119.99 is what I paid in the store.

I believe BB has a data plan that will not work on other phones....just like other phone sim cards will not work in a BB
Just to confirm, BB as in Blackberry and not Best Buy. First statement is true for most BB phones as the BB compressed the data it sends/recieve so it uses less data, and (usually) has a cheaper data plan. Your second statement is false, I had no problem using the SIM card I used on the Nexus One, on a BlackBerry Curve and then to my Atrix.

I bought my Atrix about a month ago from Costco. They were able to set up a new 2-year contract that kept my unlimited data plan. I just used the SIM card from my iPhone 3GS. There was no need for a new SIM card.

I've found that if you switch your SIM card to a different phone, and then login to your account at ATT, before very long, the make of your phone shown in your account will automatically change to the type of phone that your SIM card is in. You don't have to call ATT or have them do anything. That just updates automatically. I haven't tried changing any options for my service when doing that, but I'm pretty sure that if I did want to change options, the new choices would be the choices that go with the phone my SIM card is in at the moment.

I work for Wireless Advocates, the phone kiosk inside of Costco. As of right now we don't carry any accessories for phones. However, they all come with a car charger, headset, and carrying case. As far as docks, no.

And yes, we can switch phones to different numbers. Are you taking your wife's upgrade? It's as simple as changing the IMEI in the system. We use the same system they use at any other AT&T store or retailer. The Atrix is currently our coupon phone. Prices change every Wednesday, so I'd grab it now.

Good luck!

Yeah,

Well I went to costco yesterday to buy an Atrix and they told me they'd have to switch me from my unlimited account to a 2Gb/monthly rate. With no way around it. They also told me the ATT store would do the same thing. thought it was sketchy so I went to ATT to verify.... they told me I could keep my unlimited account. Ended up buying it from ATT, wish I could have saved that $100 though......

I had bought my Atrix from Costco as an upgrade for $99. Although the rep was able to select my grandfathered unlimited plan during the setup process, AT&T automatically switched me to the 2 GB plan. When I noticed the switch via my online account, I immediately called AT&T to request that I get switched back onto my unlimited plan. Initially, I was told that it would not be possible as it was a 4G phone. Then I replied with, "well it does say 4G on the phone, but funny that I'm getting slower speeds than my old iPhone 4 especially my upload, which is slower than EDGE. Don't mind paying more for more, but not more for less." After a few mins, they switched me back.

It's very funny how many different stories you get from different sales people in different stores. I encountered a lot of that while shopping for a new phone. In one AT&T store, the salesman told me that if I bought the Atrix, I would not only have to give up my unlimited data plan, but I would be required to buy the $45 data plan that included tethering, because the Atrix could be used as a hotspot. I left, because I knew that wasn't correct. (At another store, they also told me that the Atrix was LTE capable. I didn't buy from them, either.)

I did end up purchasing my Atrix from Costco, as stated above. The lady there was very helpful and knew that I could keep my unlimited data plan. However, when she put through the upgrade, she did notice that the data plan had reverted to the $25 2Gig plan, so she fixed that before I left the store. I believe that there is a difference in label between the unlimited plan for the iPhone and the one for the other smart phones, though, so if you are switching from an iPhone to an Atrix, the sales person does have to make an adjustment to your account.

As far as the SIM card is concerned: I just took the SIM out of my iPhone and put it into my new Atrix. Worked just fine.
