Help Atrix screen questions

Are Android apps (typically developed for 800x480 resolution) stretched out to fit the qHD resolution? If not, are they letterboxed?

How sharp is the screen? Is it Pentile Matrix?

I have not read about such points in any reviews so far, so I'd like to hear from actual owners.

I believe they must be stretched (unless they are natively taking advantage of the real estate) because they look just fine to me. No, I have not come across any that look letterboxed. I like the screen but must admit that the Samsung OMLED screens are more richly saturated in color.

sharp and clear compared to what? I just came from an iPhone 3g and its night and day difference... the same size font on a 3g web page vs the atrix screen looks blurry and pixels appear to bleed together .. the Atrix by comparison looks sharp, bright and saturated.

I read so many negatives on here regarding the atrix screen and quite honestly, if you came from a garbage screen like I did, this display looks amazing.... is it a SSSAMOLED+++?? of course not ... I compared the sammy AMOLED screens next to the atrix and the colors pop differently yes ... either technology is a huge improvement over what I came from

Atrix screen messes up the color yellow alot, looks brownish. The screen has a slight smoky tint to it, pentile matrix screendoor effect, making everything viewed like looking at it on a cloudy day. Things are sharp but just not bright or vibrant. SSamoled are better no question, I have to have my brightness turned almost to max to be able to see the screen with ease while I'm outside every day all day.

yer gonna hear everything from 'sucks ballz' to 'best screen ever' from people. It's just too subjective. The only answer is to go into a store and check it out for yourself. On the objective side, it is pentile matrix, but I think it's the kind the adds pure-white pixels. I find that white/black contrast is really sharp, so web pages with text look good. Color on the otherhand is more pixelated and I can definitely tell without having to look real close.

The shazsam app has weird black bars around the edges where it obviously did not stretch to fit the qhd screen.

Like others have stated, text looks really sharp and clear but the colors are not as vibrant as say a Galaxy S or HTC Inspire.
