Help Atrix Stuck on Boot after CWM any help?

kartik50

Lurker
Ok, so before I flashed a new rom, I installed Clockworkmod to make a backup so that I wouldn't lose everything. I made my backup, and immediately tried to restore it, just to triple check that everything would work if I did somehow mess up. Well, it didn't. I restored once, and got an error (error formatting /system), so I tried to restore again, thinking that this might be a one off, and I got a different error (error restoring boot image). I said, oh well, maybe I did something wrong, and pressed reboot. Well, phone won't boot up. Stuck on the motorola logo with unlocked written in the top left corner. I'm on Orange UK, bootloader unlocked using the bell.ihop from International House of Pudding, and Clockworkmod installed permanently (fastboot flash recovery (cwm).) . Anyway, I cant afford to lose this phone, does anyone know a fix?

Thanks for any help in advance. If you prefer, email me any fixes at kartikprabhu1@gmail.com

Exact same situation here..
Whats the point of installing recovery if U cant recover when needed?

-unlocked bl
-rooted
-installed cwm
-made backup from under cwm and installed zip (cm7) same way
-obviously things went wrong and when tried to recover.. Suprise, no such possibility..

you know I can't afford to be without my phone either. However, I have kept my phone bone stock and never ever had a problem with it. If you can't afford to get a new phone and can't afford to be without this one perhaps you shouldn't have done your experimenting on this phone? Just sayin.

Some people might take that as harsh, but it's the truth.
I LIVE off my phone. I can't afford for it to be DOA... so I don't screw with it.

Now, if someone gave me their unwanted phone to play with... you better bet I would be rooting and loading all kinds of ROM's on it.

Back to the OP - you never stated what ROM you were trying to load. Know this, if it's an OEM Rom (Stock Rom from Motorola), then your phone has to be STOCK to load it. If you've rooted and loaded CWM, that's what killed the load of the ROM.

If it's not a stock ROM, then you might need to talk to the developer of that ROM for advice. I know that, if I put an aftermarket blower on my Mustang, and then the motor wouldn't run, I would ask the maker of the Blower for advice, not Ford.

Read the OP again, he never stated he was loading a different ROM, he did a backup of his current ROM and tried to restore it to make sure everything would work before venturing into installing a different ROM. This was a basic, 'let me create a backup of my ROM and do a restore to see if it works' test. But, it didn't work..

As the OP stated he has an Unlocked bootloader, should install one of the ROMs(from xda) that work with an unlocked bootloader, since his restore is not working and it would seem something got corrupted. If he was smart, he would have done a TB of all his apps before messing around as well so he could restore those once on the new ROM.

I personally use Romracers CWM for flashing ROMs and backups, as it's tweaked for the Atrix.

Seeing that this is 2 weeks old and haven't seen any replies from the OP, safe to assume OP got it working?

It was meant to be a bit harsh.
I see people saying all the time how they can't be w/o a phone but then mess with it. My business RELIES on my phone. It is my business. Just because you CAN do something doesn't mean that you SHOULD do something. I still have my old 8300 blackberry as a backup to this one.

I put a super charger on my Harley to increase the HP. I know it will probably blow out the gaskets some day but then the warranty is over and it's paid off. I also have a truck for backup and can afford to be without it. BTW, when the blower didn't, eh, blow when I started it up I went to the blower manufacturer and we figured it out. (BTW again, my harley is bone stock TC88 accept for the blower(supercharger) and it THUMPS now. you can feel it in your chest!:)

I don't need to read the OP's post again, but I think you should re-read mine and see what you missed.

I see that the OP was doing a backup/restore test of his current ROM.
BUT WHAT ROM ARE THEY CURRENTLY USING???:eek:
That's what I'm asking. They never said.

The Atrix has shown issues with being able to reload STOCK ROM's if the phone is rooted, or has has the Bootloader modified. It's possible that, if they are trying to do a backup and restore if the STOCK (OEM) ROM, that it won't work.

If it's a 3rd party ROM, then they need to check with the developer of the ROM.

But, what they are trying to do (restore a test backup) only tells us HALF of the details we need.

Eh, no need to;) as the OP never replied to this thread if he got it working or not, maybe he got a PM from someone that fixed his issue, since it is going on 3/weeks since he posted this.

And I do agree, if it's your only phone and you NEED to have it working, don't mess with it... but then again... risk must be taken, cause the greatest hazard in life is risking nothing... something like that.. :D
