Atrix Webtop on Mac?

Hey everybody. I'm new to the forum(s) here. I'm someone who has been an avid Mac user for years in terms of personal computing. Strangely though i've never cared for the iphone. I recently discoverd the android OS and i absolutely love it. Does anyone have a guess aa to whetheror not the Atrix webtop software will be Windows only or will it be.able to run on OSX?
I literally have 1 day left on my 30 day trial with my Droid X on Verizon. If Atrix comes out relatively soon i could just stick with AT&T and not have to worry about changing networks and a cancellation fee. If Atrix can do GSM then my international needa are covered too. Just seeing a lot of potential with this phone. Oh...and i'm currently a Blackberry user as well. Shhhhhhhh...
Anyway, thanks in advance for any insight.

I don't think you understand how the webtop app works. There is no Windows or Mac, the operating system is on the PHONE. You aren't loading an app to a Windows or Mac, you are plugging the phone into a monitor and it is running its own operating system.

No, i get what it is, but i still think there's a valid question there. In order to access the Android OS don't you use the "webtop" software?

Perhaps i.am using the wrong terminology....i apologize if so. I'm referring to connecting the Atrix up to my computer, not using the accessory laptop looking thingy that is an option. Make sense?!

That makes more sense. But to do what with that exactly? Transfer data? If so, when you connect an Android device to a Mac it's just like plugging in a USB flash drive to the system, you can drag and drop files onto it accordingly.

If you mean to tether your phone to share a internet connection from your phone, then that works too.

Sorry for the confusion.
Basically just to have the feature sets available on the phone on my laptop. The phone itself is obviously what i care about. This is way more of an icing on top kinda thing. Still, i'd like to know if i'm even getting access to the icing beforehand! The phone in and of itself is the selling point though, without question. Most of the enjoyment i get from a smartphone is NOT having to use my laptop!
Thanks,

Having a laptop won't increase the feature set of the phone.

Having a desktop won't increase the feature set of the phone.

Webtop is basically an app that runs on your phone when the phone is plugged into a bigger screen (not a computer, plugging the phone into a computer will do absolutely nothing related to Webtop.)

A desktop tower plugs into a monitor to display the operating system to you. Think of the Atrix (running Webtop) as a desktop tower that plugs into the monitor. You wouldn't plug a desktop tower into another desktop tower (or laptop.)

Oooooooooookay then.

Do you understand, or are you being sarcastic?

"A desktop tower plugs into a monitor to display the operating system to you. Think of the Atrix (running Webtop) as a desktop tower that plugs into the monitor. You wouldn't plug a desktop tower into another desktop tower (or laptop.)"

DaytonaZ33's explanation there is a perfect analogy. You're asking if it is compatible with OSX, or windows only, but that question doesn't really make sense; the webtop application doesn't run on your computer. The phone IS the computer. Understand?

So will it work on your laptop, if you want to type something long or watch a movie or something? It just depends if your laptop has the inputs for controlling the monitor and keyboard. I wouldn't be surprised if they (or somebody on XDA) makes a little app that makes a little work-around if a macbook or macbook pro can't accept the inputs.

Yep, I get it.
Where I was mistaken was in thinking that you could plug Atrix in to any computer and gain access to the phone and all of it's parameters.
On a demo I watched I thought they had connected the phone to a desktop at one point. Obviously what i glanced at was someone using the dock to connect a keyboard, mouse and a monitor.
One thing I never mentioned though was anything about increasing the feature set of the phone through a laptop or a desktop...not sure how that was taken from me saying I simply wanted to access the feature set of the phone. Access it...that's all I was talking about. You can't and I see that now.
Simple mistake, everybody relax. Still really into the phone.
Thanks,

You can access the phone while it's docked. There will be a popup window of exactly what is shown on your phone and you'll be able to interact with it using the mouse in place of your finger. It can be rotated to be viewed either portrait or landscape, and can be maximized to the full screen size. So if you wanted to play Angry Birds full screen using the webtop dock or laptop (there's a video of this), you can do so.
