Help Atrix wont charge :/

So i had my Atrix for about a month and then accidentally jumped in a pool with it. :p So, i took the battery our immediately and put it in rice. I waited a couple days and the phone didn't work. It's been about a month since the phone got wet, and i tried to turn it on today and it worked! There's nothing wrong with the screen, no water marks or anything. Works perfectly fine. The only thing is that the battery wont charge now. I've tried like 5 outlets, and 2 chargers. Do you think it could be my battery?

It could be the battery, and it could be the charging circuits in the phone.

My money is on the charging circuits in the phone.

I've not torn down an Atrix, but most of these phone are a single PCB (Printed Circuit Board). So, the only fix would usually be totally replacing the GUTS of the phone.

Think of it like this... if you had to replace the motherboard in a laptop to fix the power supply. And, the CPU and memory were soldiered to it.

In either case, it's cheaper/easier to replace the whole unit.

I was excited when it turned on. But, bummed now that it doesnt charge. I'm going to see if a new battery fixes the problem. Would it be worth my time taking it to a place that fixes phones if the battery doesnt solve it?

If you can find one that does not charge you $50 just to look at it, maybe. I would think that, if the WHOLE PBC has to be replaced, you would be looking at a $150-$200 repair...:confused: You might get lucky and find that the power circuits are on a sub-board. I doubt it, but hey...

Most of those places charge you $50 to tell you what's wrong, and give you a quote to fix it. If you have them fix it, they credit the cost to the repair. If you chose not to, then you are out the money. (Hey, they have to get paid for their time to tear it apart and look at it.)

If its under warranty which it should be I use that for the best results.

That won't happen. This is considered user damage and not covered.

AT&T (And I'm sure other companies do the same) has little white stickers placed in key spots inside the phone. If these get wet, they turn RED telling the repair techs the phone was dropped in water and to deny the warranty coverage.

Sometimes you can see these (Like in the battery compartment, on the battery...) and there are others on the PCB, and other places inside the phone that you can't see, but they know to look at as soon as they pop it open.

I'm having similar issues-- my Atrix was completely submerged in water for about a minute:(. I did the rice thing for 24 hours and I was soooo excited it turned on yesterday! It worked completely fine; screen, finger sensor, making and receiving calls/text, camera...... but I noticed yesterday it was charging verryyyyy slowwwly. And today it will not charge at all, it stays at 0% but looks as though it is charging.

Just wondering if buying a new battery is worth it, and what you did to fix this.

Thanks in advance for any help/suggestions!

im sure you already figured this out everyone, but getting a battery will not matter its not your battery, and if its accidently like hurricane damage they will replace it, if you jump in a pool no they will not
i dropped mine in a rain puddle and immediately took the battery out and everything charged fine last night however today it wouldnt even try to charge sometimes you will luck out and get it to work again 80% of people that experience this will have to have your phone replaced
i jacked my wifes atrix and got her a new phone
