Help Att blocking hotspot access?

I'm at a barns & noble and I can only load their website.
when I click the "att wifi option" banner it does nothing, and yet I have no trouble with my laptop. Anyone else having same problem?

I've been wondering about Hot Spot. I read that Hot Spot was supposed to be provided free with the Data Plan and purchase of this phone. It'll be interesting to see what people find.

I presume a password or key is needed to get to it. I don't know how to come up wiht that at the moment.

I've had the exact same problem the OP is having at Starbucks. Ended up just turning off wifi so I could surf on 3G.

Isn't this just like using your laptop in a StarBucks?

Don't you need to get captured by the portal and enter your credentials?

I would expect to need credentials. AT&T Hotspots are not public.

Maybe the OP should call AT&T Support.

customer service was ******ed and couldnt help.
B&N wifi is free to the public plusi couldn't even get to the log in page.

Maybe it requires a proxy. I'm not sure if that could possibly be auto configured, if not, then it should not require that.

But if it does, Android does not support proxy servers.

Based on the topic of the thread, I presumed you were speaking of AT&T's hot spots, not public hot spots.

I experienced the exact same thing at a Barnes & Noble with a Starbucks cafe and AT&T hotspot.

Any web page access took me to a B&N portal page that never would load completely. Clicking on the banner to "connect" which you'd suspect would then allow full access actually didn't seem to do anything.

I turned wifi off, switched to 3G and just did all my browsing that way. Pages loaded several times faster in 3G than the B&N portal page did on wifi.
