Root Att inspire 4g root questions

My girlfriend is running stock android 2.3 with the latest update by att over the air. I know its possible to root but I am unsure if this latest update will block attempts to root that were possible before. We want to root and get her on a custom rom, preferably ics due to flash. Although jellybean would be fine.

I want a very stable rom though with everything working. And on doing some searching it seems that I can only find roms with most things working but some things not like the camera for instance.

I also saw the root guide but am thinking that super one click should do the job as it supports almost every phone now.

Anyone with thoughts or suggestions would be awesome. I have rooted other phones in the past, namely the optimus v.

Thanks for any and all help.

Here yah go: Advance Ace Hack Kit on second post. Read first post well.

Any questions... just post back in here.

the aahk is the root standard for the desire hd and inspire 4g,wich are nearly identicle handsets.

if youre on the newest sense 3.0 update from at&t,you may need to unlock with htcdev prior to running the aahk, wich we can gladly help you with,if needed :)

with the inspire and dhd you want to go the full 9 yards and become s-off and superCID,wich is what the aahk will do for you. superone click, even if it works to give you root access will not do these things, wich can lead to a not-so great root experience.

once youre rooted, superCIDed and s-off,go to the DHD forum, wich has alot more activity than the inspire forum: youll find posts from me(i have an inspire) and from ral(who is a rom expert) and some very good discussions of the latest and greatest ICS and JB roms, wich are becoming extremely useable and functional.

just holler if you have questions :)

If you would be so kind.

I have seen this page here:
Advanced Ace Hack Kit | TAU – It's All About The Negative

And it said it was not for complete noobs to rooting this phone. Since I have never rooted this phone before, I do not want to mess anything up. Any help is appreciated. Even if I could get a temporary root and just get rid of the bloatware that would be great. The bloatware is the main thing I want to get rid of. If there is a cool , very nice stable custom upgrade rom (ICS, JB) for android on this phone that would be even sweeter. But not entirely necessary.

I am kicking myself for upgrading her phone, as this could have been avoided. But at the time we were not planning on rooting at all.

sure. i can try and put a more "step by step" thing together later,if you are interested. :) reading the aahk directions,it seems they just want you to unlock, flash an insecure boot image, then relock. then run the aahk. we would be happy to help :)

I am not sure how to unlock the bootloader and do what they are asking for the inspire. I have read what I could find as much as possible. Thanks so much for your help.

The phones I have rooted and custom romed before were more one click and done kinda thing. (I have had it easy haha)

My old phone, lg optimus v was super easy to root and load a custom recovery and rom etc.

I now have a skyrocket and unfortunately there is little development for that phone. It doesn't bother me too much though, as the phone is fantastic enough to not need root. For me yet anyway.

give me a couple days, and i will try and make an easier to understand guide to unlock and flash the unsecure boot image. it will help other folks as well, you can decide then if its something you want to try. :)

i can definately understand the confusion with the vaugeness of their directions. the steps really are not that hard, tho.
