ATT Streak 2.2 Froyo Update Confirmed

You are right, it doesn't need to be unlocked, but I am curious, if you unlock the phone and then check for Update, won't it see the 2.2 Update available for the unlocked devices?:confused:

I have downloaded the QDT Tool, but haven't run it yet, I am still within my 30 days and don't want to risk breaking it. I started the tool and there were some really basic instructions. Is that all there is? I have the Dell PC Suite installed, so I assume I don't need to mess with drivers?
 
The software load goes with the load on your phone. Att locked phones load end in 31 and the streaks from dell end in 00. Even if you unlock your att phone, the dell update still sees the 31 if you tried to update and it wont work. That is why the qdl tool is great. Think about it... The att update is going to suck because it will be so locked down, that is why att hasnt released it yet. They are screwing it up. I figured that the unlocked load is going to be much better seeing how it is not tied to a carrier. I want my streak to function like it was made to, so the unlocked load was for me.
 
Even if you unlock it, you will still only be able to use the att update. I had that idea as well, but it's a no go. Your best bet is QDL tool, and install the official unlocked 2.2 update. I was very cautious about doing it, and when I finally did I couldn't see why I waited so long. With the QDL, you are still on a Dell official firmware, and if there are any Dell unlocked updates in the future, you will get them.
I really can't stress how much of a difference there is with the 2.2. I am still within my 30 days and now have no intention to return in. QDL it and you'll be very pleased with your phone!
 
Hi all, when you use the QDL tool and the 2.2 rom does this change your base band (load version) from 31 to 00? (31= locked to ATT, 00= no carrier lock)

The qdl tool puts the unlocked pre release load of 2.2, then you are able to click,on,the 00 update link, then presto,chango, your phone has,the current 00 unlocked dell 2.2 load
 
i need help, i just updated my at&t streak to 2.2 prerelease and now it shows H and no 3G. I tried downloading 2.2 froyo from dell nd it wont let me click on the download with my streak. what should i do? thanks

Are you with att still or did you switch to tmoble? I got my code just need sum assistance getting it done...I so excited about unlocking it.. So wheen I unlock it can i get back on the at&t network without any issues and then goto someone else if i want? I have like 3800 rollover min.
 
all I did was take my phone to tmobile and asked for a sim to "try" in my phone. when you power up with another sim, the phone will prompt you to enter your unlock code. punch in your code then press done...you will get a message saying unlock successful. after that I powered down ,gave them back their sim, then put my sim back and powered back up. my phone never even hickuped. thinking back it was a pointless move because I later used the qdl tool and it turned my phone into the unlocked phone that you get direct from dell. I am still with att aka the phone nazis.
 
The QDL tool isn't seeing my streak. I think I have all the drivers installed, but I just get "no connection" under port.

I turned off the Streak and I have removed the battery. When it says push down the volup button and connect USB, is the phone suppose to be on or off at that point?

I actually have gone through that page a few times, but Opera didn't play the tutorial well. I have got the driver installed now, but don't have time to run the update on the phone now, going to see manatees today.

Tonight, I attempted to execute the "RUN" 4 times, each time I would pull the battery for about 2 minutes between attempts. This is as far as I get:

Just for the record, here is what I am doing, maybe I am doing something really dumb, but this is it.

1. I have downloaded ftp://ftp.dell.com/Handheld/R288920.exe and installed it, nothing special, just clicked on it and followed the instructions.

2. Downloaded the ODL tool and installed the Drivers.

3. Turn off Streak.
4. Remove battery, wait 2 minutes, put battery back in.
5. Hold down the VolUp and plug in USB (Steak is still off)
6. ODL tool port goes from "no connection" to "Qualcomm HS-USB Diagnostics 9002 (COM2)"

How long should I hold the VOL UP button while connecting the USB?
Am I missing something simple?

did you enable debugging on your phone? settings,applications,development,enable debugging.

as soon as your phone boots on you will see.the qdl tool see.your phone ie the connected to comm port. I let go of the button as soon as the phone came on which was a couple of seconds

Yes, my device is rooted and I have the debugging enabled.

When I plug it in with the volumn held down, the device does NOT start up, it stays dark. Sometimes the lights will flash on.
