auto brightness

How does it work? i know it goes by the sensor on top of the phone but does it automatically adjust due to the amount of light that it reads? ex:dark room, brighter screen, go outside - more light dim screen? am i getting that wrong?

makes no sense to me... seems like the complete opposite of what it should be doing. Does it drain your battery more for auto brightness?

If you think about it makes sense. With a dark screen it would be hard to see it in bright light so it makes the screen brighter. Or look at it this way, if it's dark in the room and the screen is real bright it's hard on the eyes so the screen automatically dims itself to balance things out.

I'm not sure about battery drain when using auto-brightness, I use switch pro and change the brightness whenever I feel it needs to be changed. I usually use 30%.
