Help Auto-correct & spellcheck on keyboard?

Advice/help needed: When I'm typing texts or emails my s4 is not auto-capitalizing "i" to "I" or auto-inserting apostrophes (I'm, they'll, it's, I'll, etc.) like all my old Droids did. Also, my old Droids would underline or highlight misspelled words and if I clicked on them I would get a list of suggested corrections. These features appear to be missing. This has caused me some embarrasing mistakes and I hope there is something (a setting or download) I'm just missing. Appreciate any help!
 
I've never been a fan of the stock Samsung keyboard. Give SwiftKey or Kii keyboards a try. They are much better at auto correcting.
