Auto correction

When I am texting, my phone automaticaly replaces words it thinks are mispelled. I like to have suggestions I just want to be able to decide instead of having the words automatically replaced. How can I turn off the auto replacment but still have it suggest replacment words. I am willing to turn both off if I have to to stop the auto replacement.

Many times it replaces words that are not misspelled, especially names of people.

I'm not sure if there is a way to turn this off. I usually just add the word to the dictionary by tapping on the word in the suggestion area.

Tap the words you typed, hold it for about 2 secs, it will save them.

That won't work. I have no way of knowing a word is going to be replaced until after it's gone and another word has replaced it. If what your saying is true then I would have to hold for 2 secs on every word I type to keep it from being replaced.

How can I add it to the dictionary since it is replaced without warning. It's already gone by the time I realize that it's been replaced. There is nothing to tap on except the word that has replaced it.

Perhaps yuo misunderstand my question.
