Help Auto off/on not working

I recently got a case that supposedly does auto on/off and noticed it doesn't do anything. I've also done testing with magnets and it seems its something with the tablet settings not the case.

Case is a 2013 Nexus FitFolio

Nexus 2013 official 4.4.2 update right out of the box before even using the device.

The sensor works on mine. With the tablet in portrait, the sensor should b on the bottom left corner of the screen.

Yeah I saw a video online that's where I started but I ended up moving the magnet around the entire screen and it didn't do anything.
