Help auto rotate issue

Not sure if this has been covered yet but has anyone had any isssues with auto rotate not ddoing as the name describes, i just got the phone yesterday and its acting crazy plz help.

Are you having problems disabling auto-rotate or with your phone not auto-rotating? I'm assuming you've already tried toggling this function in settings? There are also widgets you can get that can toggle this for you. I use Elixir and it has an auto-rotate toggle. Highly recommended, as it comes with a lot of other useful toggles, including 4G, hotspot, ringer mode, etc.

Go into Menu - Settings - Display and do a G-Sensor calibration. Make sure the phone is on a flat surface when you do it.

My technique for apps that allow auto-rotate. I turn my phone then tilt it slightly towards me. That tells the screen you want it to auto-rotate if it hasn't done so already.

One thing you need to know is that the EVO uses HTC Sense 1.0, which does not fully support Landscape mode. That comes in Sense 2.0, which was released last year, and something we will (hopefully) be getting with our gingerbread update in the Summer.

Something odd just started happening to mine just recently. No 3rd party launcher. Rooted, but using the stock ROM.

When I wake the phone up and unlock it and it's not oriented straight up and down, I often see the home screen briefly flash in landscape mode with the notification bar along the right side. It always does this twice and takes about a half a second between each orientation change, so it's about a second and a half before it's back to normal.

When this happened a couple of days ago, my thumb was on the right side of the screen, more than half way down from the top. I was able to grab and open the notification bar by sliding my thumb from right to left.

It's no big deal and only a minor annoyance, but has anyone else heard of this happening?

Are you all on a stock ROM? I had something similar happen to me with a modded leaked 2.3 w/ sense 1.0 ROM recently. It got annoying enough that I just decided to give Cyanogen a try (and boy am I happy I did that... but that is for another thread).
