Help Auto-Rotation Problem

Often, when my phone has been idle in my pocket for a while and I get a new text, the ability to auto rotate the keyboard to the larger version (which is what I use to write all my text messages) for the response doesn't work. I often have to open the message, attempt the auto-rotation, have it fail, then close the messaging and re-open again then wait for it to rotate. Sometimes I have to do this 2x or 3x.

What are potential solutions for this?

do you lock your homescreen? if not you may be unknowingly pressing keys etc while it is in your pocket. combine that with it trying to change orientation (portrait/landscape) as soon as text comes in and screen comes on and it may be jamming up. Kinda like pocket dialing. could also try long press on home button - task mgr - exit all apps
