Auto Update Time

wolgy

Newbie
I was wondering if there is a way to change when the app markets checks for and performs the auto updates

Its just that it seems to choose when I am using my phone extensively that it likes to do these updates, I'd like it to do it at like, 4 am.

Go to Play Store, hit menu or tap the three dot symbol, select 'settings' and select 'auto update apps' and then choose 'never auto update apps.' It will occasionally nag you, however when you open Play Store. As far as I am aware, there is no way to schedule updates, it usually does it whenever it feels like it.

I thought I was the only one who had this problem! My phone seems to think that the best time to update all my apps is when I switch off wifi, switch on GPS, music and my running app, and leave the house to go for a run. Wtf phone?

Lol.
auto update is a bad idea anyway. i have about 10 apps constantly sitting in My Apps that i dont wana update coz the update is crap. A lot of times free apps get updated and make themselves ad supported or worse, take away features that were once free and charge you to get them back lol!
Much better to read reviews before updating imo :)

Do you have to go through your phone and update each one individually as and when you want to then?

I feel the same way, I really don't like the updates for a few apps but I just went with it because it was easier than updating all the other apps around them.

Also, is there a way to turn off the google play "updates available" notification so it doesn't harass me in my notification bar?

Edit: I'm a noob. In the Play settings you can uncheck update notifications ^^ you can also set it to auto-update apps over wi-fi only, so at least there's that.

Yeah i go through indevidually and no, i dont think theres a way to disable it. It only usually notifies me after a reboot though. Wish i could remove the ones im never gona update from the update list though :(

In Play Store Settings | Auto-update apps I have it set to Do not auto-update apps.

Every day when it is convenient I go to Settings | My apps and look at the Installed list. The start of the list is app waiting to be updated. It has an Update All button that allows you to apply the updates for everything listed or you can do it individually.

On my deactivated phone I do the same thing and check every so often. There are sometimes a lot (50?) apps waiting for updates.

Thanks for the responses guys.

I know how to turn of auto update, that's not the problem nor what I want. Very rarely do I have an issue when i get an update to an app and my response is extremely negative. Throw in on top of that I'd have to go though and manually update every single one every single time, no thanks.

I just wish it would do it while my phone is plugged in (usually only happens when I putting it to sleep for the night) as opposed to when I'm running 3 different apps and trying to accomplish something. silly android.

Anyways, again, thanks for the responses, I'll just quietly drift away and complain somewhere else. :)

Google Play Store does allow you to disable the notification as well, but it will occasionally ask if you want to auto-update over WiFi. That little popup dialog cannot be turned off.
