Auto-Updating Maps?

Is there a way to prevent the Google Maps from updating? It takes up a large portion of memory; I keep having to manually remove it to free-up 11MB.

You get the app2sd app its really good but you should just uninstall the updates or go on the android market and unchecked the auto update box
