Help AutoCaps Off?

Hey guys, new Galaxy Note 2 / Android user coming over from Iphone. I have nothing but praise for the Samsung Galaxy note 2 because its an amazing phone.

I have a quick question regarding the auto capitalization features. I for one, like my texts, gchat messages, etc not to be auto capitalized. I have disabled the auto caps setting for both keyboards (Swype and Samsung Keyboard) but for some reason the Samsung keyboard still capitalizes some words.

Under the Samsung Keyboard settings I have predictive text set to on, swiftkey flow checked, and in the advanced settings, auto caps unchecked. I am unsure why basically most words, except for instance "lol" or "ok" are auto capitalized and I am trying to figure out how to set it up not to do this.

When I change the keyboard to the swype keyboard, nothing is auto capitalized. Any ideas?

Now that is a strange thing to have happen; all caps by default even though the settings do not reflect that desire?

I'd first double check those settings, also making sure that the keyboard you are making the settings on is the one being used by default and marked as such in "language and Input" in the main Settings menu.

The next thing I'd check for is a prankster in the house or work environment.

Post back your findings, please.

Thanks for the quick response. Auto Capitalization (not "All Caps") is not selected for either keyboard. Also, the samsung keyboard is currently selected as the default keyboard.

It isnt the whole word that gets capitalized, but only the first letter of the first word in the sentance i am trying to send as a text, gchat, etc message.

Also, it isnt every time but occurs only on certain words. I am wondering if it has to do with anything about how it has learned words, but even when I delete the capitalized word from the "learned words options" and then enter it all lowercase, the next time I use it its capitalized again.

Any ideas? Also, no pranksters at work.

also, the Samsung keyboard won't let me use the period "." more than once without creating a space. For example if I wanted to write:

"hey how are you..." it would default to "Hey how are you. .."

I dont understand it because the Swype keyboard won't do this and I clearly have the settings for these two options unseleted.

Adding a space and capitalizing the next word when you end a sentence is a feature that's been on many phones for quite a while. Every sentence is supposed to begin with a capital letter.

Use of the ellipsis is a pain but easily gotten around by backspacing over the added space.

I understand that, but why does the Samsung Keyboard do this (while the swype keyboard doesnt) even though the settings for auto-capitalization and auto spacing are not selected.

Because there's probably not any demand for a way to turn it off.

Are you not reading what I write??? There is an option for each individual keyboard in the settings to either use Auto-Capitalization or leave it off. If I dont have the option selected (aka being off), shouldnt it actually be off then and not still auto capitalize some words?

I am trying to figure out why the Samsung Keyboard does this while the Swype keyboard doesnt. It has nothing to do with demand or how normal practice is. Your information is non-informative and off-topic.

Let's all take a deep breath and relax.

I'm not an authority on keyboards and don't know why it works differently even with the settings applied.
I'm sure I'm not alone here.
It's been this way on all Samsung phones I've used.

Since Android isn't a one size fits all platform, I can only suggest to use the keyboard that meets your requirements; the play store is full of them.
