Autotext on android?

Hey guys. Just wondering if there's a way to program abbreviations that will automatically type out certain words or phrases? I'm coming from blackberry and you could on those. If not no biggie. The predictive text actually seem a lot better on android but I would able to type out long phrases or sentences with just typing a couple of letters also.

Or stock messaging app is missing this function but a number of market alternatives exist.

Handset for example has a "quick text" option that allows full sentence customization.
