The only reason I wouldn't do it is because you said it wouldn't install like a normal app, that to me draws red flags. Also does the app support your device?

the person i that suggested it to me said it would but i did some research and it said it was 4.3 and up so i wont be getting that

other than that everythings been working pretty good so far done put new font and boot image on it because it got rom manager pro and supersu pro

what are some good customization apps that you would recommend

Yeah you always want to do a little research before you do something. Google is your best friend

Edit: You can download a launcher for your phone like Nova launcher, Go Launcher, ADW Launcher, etc. Just search the playstore

ROM manager can get you into trouble if you're not careful. As for the Google Launcher, it works great on my 4.1.2 device

Nevermind I fixed it I was having a screen pop up everythime after boot and my time would always be reseted but I restored my system data back from then android backup I made and it is now fixed that backup saved my a lot of time doing excessive amounts of research on how to make it stop

Did I say rom manager I meant rom toolbox pro I don't even use rom manager hardly but to make an backup
