Help Avast - Smart Device Manager error

When I try to set up Avast anti theft, I get an error saying avast has discovered an incompatible SMS tool, Smart Device Manager, which has a very high SMS receiver priority which conflicts with avast. It recommends uninstalling Smart Device Manager, but when I click the uninstall button, it says the uninstall was not successful. My EVO is not rooted. I'm not sure what Smart Device Manager is or how to uninstall it (or whether I should). Any suggestions?

Wish I had an answer for you, or that someone would reply to you with a useful answer. I just had the same thing happen today and I can't figure out what the Smart Device Manager is.

Do you by any chance have "Locked and Found" installed on your phone? It is an antitheft app I have on my phone so I'm wondering if there is a connection.

I just installed this tonight as well. I ignored its prompt to uninstall and it seems to work fine

I always set up the antitheft and then uninstall the antivirus

Was even able to get it backed up to titanium backup. I'm hoping that prevents the hassles of future installs.

Smart device manager should be on all of our phones, so its not something we downloaded.

Like I said, I just ignored the prompt to uninstall. I would suggest you do the same but make sure to test it.

If you go in through Settings -> Apps, click on the 'All tab, and select Smart Device Manager, do you have the option to disable it?

(I would have tried but am rooted and deleted it a while ago)

No option to disable. Only an option to Force Close (which didn't seem to do anything). I skipped the Smart Device Manger piece and it seemed to install. I haven't had a chane to test some of the functions yet.

I submitted a suppport ticket to Avast! to see if they have any suggestions. Will post what I find out.
