Average Data Used per month

Just curious, if I always turn on the weather widget + whatsapp, and sometimes checking email & facebook, how much data do I need on average per month?

Is it different on every device? Lets say N7100 vs HTC1

The thing is I am about to work abroad and just in case there is no affordable unlimited data plan, I was wondering if 500mb / month would be enough.
Usually when I am at Home I always turn my wifi on, and when I downloading or send something or quite heavy like picture I do it at home or where wifi available.

Thanks

May I know what is your device?
Because most of GN2 user (on another thread) said they are using between 2-3.5gb and even someone used 8gb, and thats scared me

Thanks

I have found its the same between devices. But each device may have certain widgets that use more data. I generally use around 1 gb off my actual data plan, but total amount is right around 7gb because I use it more than my pc lol

Probably less than 500 MB if youre just checking email and downloading the pictures in the email. People who are using more than 8 GB are syncing photos, using Google Maps and watching Youtube videos all the time.

You can see your data usage in your phone settings at any time, and completely switch off your data or email syncing if you feel that your data usage is getting too high.

Well he was scared to death when he heard that some people use more than 8 GB, imagine his poor heart when he learns he might use half a terabyte checking emails ^_^

Yeah, was shocked with that 2gb, not to mention 8gb & Switzerland is quite expensive I heard it could cost 50chf for unlimited plan.

And before that I used blackberry, and since blackberry is not a smartphone (cant do anything except bbm, whatsapp & checking emails), i never used more than 300-500mb

I was joking. The guy who wrote that obviously meant to write 500 MB instead of 500 GB

:) I didnt even see the gb, I was just assuming if its 500 then its mb

Anyway glad to know that 500mb would be enough, and from another thread I guess all I can do more to save my data is not always syncing.

I usually use between 500mb - 1gb per month. I'm on the 2gb share plan and never go over that limit. I use wifi while at home so that helps. I share with the wife but she hardly ever use the data plan.

And, whenever you're not using data, you can just turn off mobile data (if you're phone has that option).
When I was on T-Mobile, I only had 200MB of high speed data and I would usually never go over it with web browsing and checking e-mails.

However, when I switched to Sprint and unlimited data came into my life...
Well, I used 22.5GB of data this past billing cycle :)

As long as your not streaming or using your data alot, I'd say 500mb would suffice enough, definitely no more than 1gig

But if you eventually need to start downloading something, that's where you'll run into problems.

I'm on Verizon right now and can log in to see how much data I've used each month over (I think) a 12 month period. I can also see a chart showing how much I have used over the last 6 months, with a notation of what my average usage is. I have wifi most of the time, and when I'm out and about my data usage is mostly push notifications from FB and email, plus me checking FB and email, and sometimes looking at CNN or something. No streaming video or music or anything. My average usage is about 115mb a month.

I use around 1 GB of mobile data and 7 to 10 GB on wifi. I stream a lot of movies, shows and music. My phone is my laptop computer, so I do all my work on it. I have unlimited data, so I don't worry about my data usage. (Even though I still track it.) You can always install a data manager app. It will allow you set the limit of mobile data used per month and have the app turn off data when it reaches that limit.
