.avi playback?

[Jdavis21]

There seems to be no info on whether the EVO will play .avi videos or not...does anyone know if it does? I dropped a few on the SD card and used file explorer to open it, but it said it cannot play it. Please don't tell me I have to convert it to some proprietary format....

no. .avi usually means divx. most phones play mpg (h.264 codec)

I have yet to hear of a video player in the Market Place that plays .avi's ... so yeah, you're going to need to convert it.

Search the EVO 4G board .. there is a thread or two on a few popular converting programs.

Mp4 is not a proprietary format.
