Help Avoid update notifications for bloatware

I have a non-rooted Samsung Galaxy Note 3 with Verizon. No plans to root.

I get Google Play notifications to update software that I don't use and wish I could remove, but apparently can't without rooting. Is there at least a way that I can stop the notifications from occurring? Two such apps I don't care to use, or receive update notifications about, are ANT+ Plugins and Flipboard.

I know I don't have to update the apps, but when I get a list of updates for a bunch of apps at once, it's easier for me to just hit "update all". I don't care to update bloatware I'm not using. So that's why I'm asking if there's a way to exclude some bloatware from these update lists, so that I can just hit Update All instead of having to update each individual program.

I suppose that updating the bloatware wouldn't hurt much, but I figure it's better to not take up extra space with updates to apps I'm not using.

open the Google Play application and then look for the 3 small dashes each below each other in the top left corner of the Google Play application. It looks like an equals sign with one more dash below.

Press that button and then a menu will slide open revealing some more options.

Look in the new menu which has just slid open and click on the option named "settings".

Once you click on the "settings" option a new set of options will appear.

Click on the option labelled "notify me about updates to apps or games that I've downloaded".

Make sure that when you click on it the check/tick in the box next to it disappears.

Now you won't be asked to keep updating applications.

Even better could be if you disable (or uninstall) the apps you don't use. To do that go to settings > apps and scroll until you find it. There is a tab for disabled apps, so enabling it again it's very easy.

I understand what your saying. Here is my take on this. I hated dealing with that stuff too. I have the Verizon note 3 as well and I avoided rooting cause I didn't understand it and was worried of tripping knox and bricking(again, didn't understand) but the towel root was so simple i figured I'd give it a try. Now I'm rooted and I just deleted that bloat ware and there's no more bothering me. I'd suggest you seriously look into it because it's not since complicated difficult process.

Hmm, does rooting void your warranty or disqualify you from tech support?
Yes, and you can kiss OTA updates goodbye as well; you won't get them.

That's one of the many reasons why I will not root my device. If I brick this thing I'm screwed.

Disable the bloatware.

If you long press it in the App Drawer the icon to disable it pops up at the top of the screen. Fairly hard to miss...

For some, you may need to go into the app settings, but 90% of it can be taken care of from the App Drawer.

Disabling the app will Uninstall All Updates and Disable it in one shot.

In the application manager, there is a checkbox marked Disable. When I turn it off, the message says I won't get any more update notifications about the particular app.
I only just found this so I can't say how well it works. It would also be a gain if it stops bloatware from adding to the notification panel on top

Something I wasn't clear about in my original post is that I have already turned off/disabled many apps, but there are some that I cannot. It is these that I was asking about. Examples on my Note 3 are flipboard and Samsung WatchOn video: in the app manager under settings, the option to turn these off is grayed out. Long pressing on them in the list of apps does not yield a disable option.

It sounds like rooting is the only way to get rid of these?

Even if you root and trip knox, you can still get android updates. You just can't get them over the air anymore. Samsung Kies 3 still works just fine with rooted phones that have knox tripped. I know because my knox is tripped and it's rooted. Do I care that it's tripped? Not in the slightest. I take care of my phones. Besides, people were tripping knox doing OTA updates that crashes so if I really need service, I can say it happened during an OTA update.
