Help Back button is broke - Phone automatically reboots into recovery

For some reason last week my Back Button wont light up and it only works half of the time. My phone started acting up constatntly backing out of stuff I was trying to navigate into. Also the volume will go up if you press the back button. The phone got to the point where I could not go into anything. I turned off phone and when the motorola icon popped up it went into recovery automatically. I did a data wipe and clear cache and rebooted. After reboot same thing. Motorola logo and then right into recovery. I have done battery pulls numerous times and still nothing different. I am thinking it has something to do with the back button being broken to the point that it will not allow a reboot. Phone is stock (not rooted) using launcher pro plus. I was on current gingerbread update as far as I know. Not sure what to do other than taking it to Verizon and asking them to ship it off. Let me say that this phone 15 months old and I am not due up for an upgrade. Anybody have any ideas? Thanks in Advance.
 
Thanks for the reply. That is what I am afraid of. For the time being I have taken my battery out and will try to reboot later on this afternoon. If nothing changes I will pay a visit to Verizon.
 
Nope. Its been a really good phone up until now.

I just inserted battery and got it to finally boot. Did the data wipe / cache clear. Back to totally stock. I am thinking that I will not reinstall Launcher pro plus for a few days. Im not sure if it was a bug or something I got from web browsing or what. back Butrton is working... for now. I will keep you posted.
