back buttons concerns

I am thinking about this phone, but cannot imagine living with back buttons:

1) I like to be able to trigger cammera with volume buttons in gloves during winter. How the hell can you do it with buttons around lens??
2) I keep phone in car cradle. How do you fiddle with back buttons while phone is shoved in there??

How do you live with these?

I use All In One Gestures to add "back" buttons to the left and right side of the screen on my One Plus One and S4 prior to that.

For the car cradle, I'd use knock on/knock off - in general use, I don't find myself using the back buttons very much.

With regard to taking photos when wearing gloves, the volume down button is quite some way from the lens so I don't foresee a problem. Why not take the gloves into your local phone shop and give it a try?

Edit: Ah! I now see you wrote: "I like to be able to trigger cammera with volume buttons in gloves during winter. How the hell can you do it with buttons around lens??"

The answer is that the buttons aren't around the lens. The lens is at the top, separated from the buttons. Then, below that you get the buttons in a group: volume up/power/volume down. They are pretty tactile and, whilst it probably does take a week to get used to them, they end up feeling quite natural.

I am wearing winter gloves, helps with winter in general.

It seems this phone has quite a few design flaws which many are trying to workaround.

Having buttons in the back is just plain stupid and short sighted. Having qhd screen is even worse. I did not see a point in fhd when it came out, and having qhd now is just ridiculous. It drains battery faster, puts strain on gpu and reduces app compatibility.
I guess I will go for m8 or wait to see iPhone 6 offering.

If you can't see past the back buttons being am issue then don't get the phone. I mean the phone itself is an amazing phone. There's the knock feature to turn it on where you tap 2 times on the screen to get it on. I haven't even used the back button to turn it on. Plus you could also maybe try getting a stylus pen and that'll help with using it with your gloves on. I have a stylus pen that came with my phone cover and I find myself using it all the time because it works great.

Phones aren't designed to be used with winter gloves. Except the s4 and s5. Without gloves the buttons on the back are actually quite easy to get used to and I actually prefer them because my pointer finger is almost always hovering around them when I hold my phone. It sounds like you've already made up your mind about the g3 though. I would try the s5 if you like using your phone with gloves.

I am unable to use any phone with my snowboarding gloves or mittens on.. Maybe all phone manufacturers are short sighted and have design flaws......

If you're just trying to trigger the camera, you could always turn on the voice activation in the camera app.

I love the buttons on the back, best design feature on a phone in a while and the screen is amazing with great battery life. If you don't like the phone then you don't like the phone, good thing there are like 1000 others to choose from..... Or you can just bash it like you wanted in the first place and stroke your epeen

I took a plunge and bought g2. It is now cheaper than nexus 5 where I live, and 5.5 qhd is a bit too much.

I understand now why the buttons are on the back - the besel is so narrow, they could not fit them on sides. Every phone I checked had issues, so a compromise had to be made.

I'll see how I get along with them. Thanks to everyone for the replies.
