Help Back-Up Without Phone

I lost my phone recently and was wondering if there's a way to back-up my photos, videos, contacts, texts, etc without needing the phone? I have the Google Play account so I can install apps, but like I said I don't have the phone so I can't edit settings for those apps.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

The only thing that may ne backed up is your contacts, if you set your phone to do so through google.

Pics and vids are a different story.

I encourage people to do a regular back up of all contents on the phone at least once a week to their computer.

If you lost your phone, and didn't have a picassa account, you have lost you photos and videos.

From this point forward, make it a habit to keep a backup on your computer.

For future reference, if you use Lookout Premium, you get regular backups of your photos, call logs and such. It works pretty seemlessly and very well. It also is an antivirus package and has a stolen/lost phone function that works very well. My wife lost her phone a couple of months back and when I used the locator function it was at the house, but we couldn't find it. I turned on the siren funciton and the phone had fallen down into the recliner and was sitting on the frame under the cushion. We would have never found it had it not been for Lookout. Since then, my wife has decided that actually setting a ringtone isn't a bad idea instead of using vibrate only all the time. Another humorous example is, my daughter has only been driving (by herself) a couple of months. She had to go to the eye doctor, which is across town from us. She called me on her way home from the side of I-40 and said she was lost. At that time she didn't know what road she was on and her descriptioin of the area didn't help any. I logged onto the Lookout account and had it locate the phone and then sent her a link from Chrome to phone to route her back home. IMHO, this made the cost of Lookout well worth it. The Premium version is 19.95 per year for three devices.

I made a Picassa account after it happened. I'm guessing it's to late. And from what I read, you have to enable a setting to auto-upload. Or am I wrong?

As for contacts. Is that something you would've had to do through the phone itself? Or can I login my Gmail and do it? The only contact showing up atm are ones I've sent emails too.

I'll definitely get a backup tool next time. I had an iPhone before so I was use to auto-backups everytime I charged it through the computer.

Also, I'm guessing theres no way to install an app through Play and have it backup without the actual phone in my hand.

Lost the phone but you want to back it up? That implies that the phone is on. Just go to play.google.com and install Lookout Plan B and then find your phone.

For the future, When you create new contacts or calendar items, make sure they are synched to google. If you take pictures, install dropbox or picassa and enable the auto upload. If you store other files on your phone that need backing up, install foldersync and link it to dropbox.
