Root back up

hey guys, im going to be rooting my captivate for the sole purpose of doing the lag fix and maybe overclocking it...dont know if thats the same thing? Either way i know i woiuld have to back the captivate up but how does that work? and will i be able to back up my game save data? even though currently i cant load my game file since i updatred psx4droid. that thread is here: http://androidforums.com/android-games/254244-psx4droid-cant-load-game-file-after-update.html lmk guys!! thanks!

I wouldn't advise the lag fix for 2.1. Too risky and very easy to corrupt your phone with the method used in OCLF. The only things that address the lag issue properly are the custom ROMs, but going down that route carries with it a whole new set of issues and risks.

Not really a fan of overclocking either as I see it causing way too many issues for people who's hardware can't support it, but I understand the lure of speed is too much for many people to resist. Just be prepared to ratchet the speed back to 1GHz the moment you start to see issues, and always suspect the OCing as the first possible culprit. Oh and be sure to always keep backups in case the OCing corrupts your phone.
