Back up?

Hi,

I have an Andriod HTC Sensation Z710e and I would like some help in how to backup the entire image of the phone before I try anything else.

Can anyone assist me with how to backup the image so if I have any accidents I can restore to my old image with settings contacts etc?

I download rom manager to backup the phone but I am getting an error about recovery clockwork mod.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Are you rooted? If not, ROM Manager won't be able to do anything for you. If you are, you need to install Clockwork Recovery Mod and after that you can backup your entire phone.

No I am not rooted, is this a simple procedure without causing any problems? Is rooting the same as unlocking the boot with HTC Dev?

A simple how to get my feet wet would be appreciated.

Thanks for your response.

I used the All in one toolkit and this is the message I am getting when I do a Hboot.

***UNLOCKED***
Pyramid PVT Ship S-ON RL
Hboot-1.27.0000
eMMC-boot

What else do I have to do to get S-Off and then get rooted?

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Have you checked out this thread?

Also, I can't say for sure, but are you on ICS? I ask since I'm not sure the guide is up to date with those upgraded from GB.

Yes I am ICS

Android 4.0.3
Rom version 3.32.401.5

I also tried revolutionary from the S-Off link provided from your link and it said my phone is not supported, are they other instructions to do the S-Off or am I missing something?

Regards

If you have done the HTC dev unlock you can still use Clockwork Recovery Mod.

I did the same as you, have the same HBOOT as you and installed Clockwork Recovery Mod ok.

Thanks,

I used ADB and FASTBOOT to get CWM onto my phone (ADB is installed when you follow the full HTC Dev instructions).

You then need to copy the CWM .img file to the Fastboot folder then go into HBOOT on your phone and pick Fastboot.

On your PC open up command line, change directory to 'fastboot' (folder containing fastboot.exe etc.) and run command: fastboot flash recovery recovery-clockwork-touch-5.8.0.9-pyramid.img (or whatever your CWM file is called).

Caveats:
By running the HTC Dev process you have invalidated the warranty on your phone.

By installing CWM you are replacing the stock recovery with CWM.

If you are still stuck then go here and many experts will assist.

I was getting an error as I was using the instructions from a post above that was using the PG58 zipfile.

I found another thread that said the PG58 was not being recognized properly and to use 4Ext Recovery through the same method you indicated and it work for me and I now have a backup of my phone through recovery.

I will wait until revolutionary comes up with a method to root and S-off my phone.

Thanks again to all who assisted.
