Root Backing up apps/icons

I'm new to rooting. If I wanted to change my rom, is there a way to backup ALL of my apps (some of them didn't come back) and my screen setup and icons? I have a lot of custom icons and it was a pain to set it all up again with desktop visualizer.

Or is there a better way to set certain icons as defaults to programs?

Launcher Pro can backup icons/screen settings.
Titanium Backup will backup your apps.

It however will NOT backup all the txts that you have in lets say handcent. How to do that I don't know, but would be happy to learn if someone else does!

Yeah its pretty sweet.
from home Press Menu then Preferences, at the bottom there is backup homescreens & settings.

MyBackupPro will back up all your SMS/MMS messages. I use it religiously when switching ROMs. Make sure you do the backup right before flashing to make sure you get them all - I lost a couple because my backup was a few days old

launcher pro only backs up its own icons and not the icons from the original TouchWiz30Launcher, is there app i can use to back up original icons from TouchWiz30Launcher.
