Help backing up before installing a new rom ?

gonna be installing the new orange 2.1 rom on my old hero soon

just wondering what i need to back up before hand ? dont wanna loose anything !

also whats the best way to back up ? any free apps ?

You can back up everything from sms to your home screen.

The 2.1 update hasn't been wiping anyone's phone, but just in case something goes wrong...

You'll need to backup everything stored on the phone's internal memory. So your text messages, apps, any contacts saved as 'Phone' contacts (not 'Sim' or 'Google' ones) etc.

thanks guys update was successful

only problem is that my alarm wont work when my phone is on silent (it used to do this)

also phone is ringing quietly when on silent

is there a setting im missing ?
