Help Backing Up Default Application "Notepad" Files from 4.0.4 to a Computer

[Moselia]

Dear Forum,

I'm having a bit of difficulty; I'm trying to create backups of Notepad files from my phone onto my computer. My phones about page states that it is running Android Version 4.0.4, and I've tried to find the Notepad files through several methods but have not been able to find them anywhere, or any way to make copies of them.

I've tried rooting my phone and looking for them, connecting the phone to a computer and browsing through the phone and SD card data, and tried downloading a different Notepad app from the Google Play Store to see if it could access the same files and then get to them through a computer, but nothing has worked.

All research that I've attempted keeps stating that I need a different notepad app already installed, but I can't seem to access the files with anything other than the default Notepad. I would preferably like the files as .txt documents, but I'm happy with anything as long as I can get a hold of it.

If anyone knows how I can access these files, could I please have some help?

Thank you,
Moselia

What phone are you using? There's no Google Notepad app, so your default app is probably manufacturer-specific.

Have you looked in the app's Settings for a save location?

My phone is the Telstra ZTE-T790: http://www.zte.com.au/telstra/T790.htm.

I've combed through the settings several times, and there doesn't seem to be anything about a default save location
