Help Backing up Samsung Galaxy S2

Tal

Member
I am considering getting the Samsung Galaxy S2.

Has I will be adding more and more stuff onto it, I was wondering, is it possible to take regular backups of my phone, apps, settings, OS etc, so that if I have a problem, I can then restore it back to a certain condition/working state and if so what is the best way to do this, and if a program is needed to do this, which program would you recommend for this purpose.

Sorry if the question has been asked before, but its just I don't know anything about the Android OS.

Thanks in advance.

You can, but to back up the entire system requires root access. If you backup your data and sync contacts with Google and list your phone on Appbrain, you shouldn't have any problem resotring your phone after a hard reset.

If I backup my data with Google (I already have my contacts synced with Google on my iPhone, and will keep my contacts synced with Google when I get a S2). Will the backup of data contain all the settings for individual apps and also game high scores and the like. And also the same question for Appbrain. Thanks.

No. Settings and scores will be lost. If you want to back up the complete system with settings for individual apps, you'll need to root and use Titanium or another complete backup solution.

Thanks for the help its appreciated.

Is it an easy process to 'root' the S2?

Do you take backup's of your S2 apps, settings lunatic59, and also asking the other forum users too?

Or is it not really necessary?

What other software can you use to back-up and sync your phone with OutLook. Kies is still a dissapointment. Samsung has sold a LOT of phones but does not wish to give us some decent software.
