Root Backing up your Prevail CDMA info

For some reason i get permission denied. what am i doing wrong?

did you make sure to run "su" first? If you did and it still didn't work... do you have root?
I haven't done this yet, so I don't know what else could be the problem. "Permission denied" usually shows up when you try to run a root command without root privileges.

Stupid me...didnt see the phone asking me to allow su access.

How does one restore this file?

As im skimming through files in xvi32 (hex editor) im finding some really interesting things. Looks like this is where the esn is located....

Not trying to sound stupid but I am having trouble getting a copy of .adb. I would love to back my info for the phone and also to do the 3G hack, but exactly how do I get a working copy of .adb? I've tried using the copy that came with KMS, but it won't run.

type cd\kms or cd\where evrer you kms folder is

type adb shell

I followed the directions and now have the cdma.rfs file created on on my Desktop PC. I'm stuck at how to get to the data and divide it up or save it in folders as described. What is Magica ISO (a tool to convert hex to something else)? If so, where can I find it? I found some references on Google, but nothing that looks quite like what I think I'm looking for.

Thanks for this. I used the Android Terminal instead of tethering the phone to a PC. I have no idea what to do with the file but i got it. It is almost 9MB.

dont know exactly what part of the backup were talking about? are we talking a phone backup to read and then if corrupted, "flash" it back? using the right program, you can read all the entries in the phone without root.

i removed the post in the OP

I dont reccomend trying to back up the cdma partition, you can damage your phone
