Help backlight does not turn off

The back light of my phone Samsung Galaxy GT I5503 does not turn off, it requires to press end call key to turn off. I have also noticed that the setting in screen timeout gets unchecked every time which was set to 30 sacs. It’s very annoying and the battery gets drained quickly. Has anyone experienced this sort of problem.

No, I've never experienced this with my phone. Can only echo what sitlet has said....

Done hard restore several time, still it does not work.

have a look at this setting:-

settings/applications/development/stay awake

if this is checked, uncheck it and try again

if it becomes checked again, it could be an app stopping the screen from sleeping
